Clara Jean (Owens) Nuzum

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Clara Jean (Owens) Nuzum, on September 4, 2025, at the age of 70, in Hibbing, Minn.

Clara Jean (Owens) Nuzum was born on February 16, 1955, in Shinnston, West Virginia, to Edward Thomas Owens and Teresa Lopez.

Clara and her siblings lived in a children's home until the age of 18. Clara had Allen Ray Nuzum Jr. and Lisa Ann Nuzum (Buffington) in West Virginia before she and her then husband Allen Ray Nuzum, moved to Hibbing, Minn., in 1979. While living in Hibbing Clara was a stay at home mother and at one point went to the Hibbing Vo-tech for Culinary skills. Clara lived in Hibbing until she moved to join her adult children and grandchildren in Osakis, Minn., in 2016. There she volunteered at the Meals on Wheels and spent time with her family.

Clara is survived by her sisters Anna Gidley of Mt. Clair WV, Lyddia Bellamy of Clarksburg WV, son Allen Nuzum Jr. of Osakis MN, daughter Lisa (Michael) Buffington of Osakis MN, Grandchildren Matthew Buffington of Sauk Centre MN, Jasmine (Hunter) Mostoller of St. Cloud, Hunter Buffington of Osakis, and her many nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Edward T. Owens, Teresa Lopez, her brother Joseph E. Owens.

On Saturday September 27, 2025, there will be a visitation at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church 418 3rd Ave. E Osakis, MN 56360.
