Francis (Frank) Scheuring
Francis (Frank) Scheuring, 93, of Aurora, passed away October 18, 2024, at Essentia Health Northern Pines.
Frank was born in East Grand Forks, Minn., on February 10, 1931. He graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls, Minn. Frank was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 serving overseas in England, Bermuda, Germany, and France where he was part of the 22nd Bomber Wing. He married Pat Chappel on January 21, 1956. He was employed at Erie Mining Company. He and Pat made their home in Murphy City then Silver Bay where he was the mayor from 1969 to 1974. His job led them to Hoyt Lakes. After retirement they moved to Pine City. Finally, Frank moved to Aurora to be close to family in 2022.
Frank belonged to the American Legion where he was a past Commander of Post 241. He also belonged to the Northwest Maintenance of Way Club, Erie Mining Salaried Retiree Association, and the Engineers Club of Minnesota. He was a member of the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. Frank retired from Erie Mining Company in 1992.
Frank was a kind and caring man with a positive outlook on life. He loved watching snocross racing, off road racing, and the Minnesota Vikings.
Frank is survived by his son, Steve (Janel); daughters, Sandy Carlile (Byron) and Janet Scheuring (Jim); grandchildren, Jasmine Morris (Patrick), Khrystine Jeffers (Bryan) and Stephen Carlile; four great-grandchildren, and siblings, Darrell and Vern.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; parents, Anton and Elsie; siblings: Al, Richard (Bud), Angela, Ardell, Eileen (Honey), Denny, Kenny, and Keith (Toodie).
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora on Saturday, November 2, from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Following the ceremony, a lunch will be served at the American Legion in Aurora.
