John Edward Bantz
John Edward Bantz, 91, died peacefully at his home in Arroyo Grande, Calif., on March 21, 2024.
John was born in Plentywood, Mont., August 28, 1932, to Orval and Mary Bantz. He graduated from Mountain Iron high School and then attended University of Minnesota to acquire his Masters in teaching degree. He served two years in the Army before starting a 15-year run as a teacher.
He then joined his brother, Orval Bantz, sisters, Loretta Bantz and Lois Fryckman, in a family business in Nipomo, Calif.,-Bantz Mobile Homes. They grew their business to four sales lots along the California coast.
John loved to travel, sightsee, visit relatives and take pictures. In the early years he was always walking around with his camera around his neck. Then out came cell phones and he could snap thousands of pictures with the phone he carried in his pocket.
John is survived by sisters, Mary Bodas and Lois Fryckman; lifelong friend, Tony Maldonado; dog, Lily, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Mary; brothers, Orval and Robert; and sister, Loretta Bantz .
A memorial service will be held March 29 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Lady Family Mortuary, 555 Fair Oaks Avenue, Arroyo Grande, California.
