Larry Nicklous Lauseng
Larry Nicklous Lauseng, 82, of Palo died Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
He was born on September 19, 1942, to Clifford and Jeanette (Thiel) Lauseng in Waubay, S.D. Larry grew up in S.D. before his family moved to Minnesota in 1957. He graduated from the American Academy Correspondence School and he played football for Biwabik High School. Larry was united in marriage to Carole Nelson on September 30, 1963. Larry was employed for Erie Mining Company and LTV Steel until his retirement after thirty-four years of service. Larry also owned and operated a hobby farm where he raised cattle and sheep. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aurora for over fifty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reloading shotgun shells in his retirement years. Larry took the greatest pleasure in spending time with this family and friends and adored being a grandpa and great-grandpa.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Carole; daughters: Nikki (Bob) Logan, Ellen Lauseng and Kim (John) Jacquart; son, David (Kathy) Lauseng; grandchildren: Nicklous LaBarre, Kenny (Ashlee) LaBarre, Becky (Joe) Howell, Christian (Dusty) LaBarre, Curtis (Katie) Logan, Liz (Trevor) Kunnari, Abigail (Cotis) Macon, Jeremiah (Amanda) Jacquart, Ben (Anya) Lauseng, Delainie Lauseng, Dominic Lauseng and Cayden Lauseng; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Glenda (Ron) Johnson, Sherry (John) Hannuksela, Terri (Dean) Hofsommer; brother, Lloyd (Gloria) Lauseng; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Todd Lauseng, Duane Lauseng, Reuben Dean Lauseng, LeRoy Lauseng, Janice Porter and Saunya Giles; and his parents.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Aurora with Pastor John Jacquart officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Rauha Cemetery in Palo.
Arrangements are by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
