Leonard Vincent Auel

Leonard Vincent Auel, 90, of rural Gilbert, passed away Friday, December 21, 2024, at his home.

He was born on March 28, 1934, to Gladys and George Auel in Leaf River Township, Wadena, Minn., on the family farm.

He worked for Wadena Silo Company, Colvin Lumber Yard, delivered fuel oil and retired from Inland Steel.

He married his sweetheart, Rosalie L. Johnson on December 31, 1954, and were blessed with nine children including Keith (Anne) Auel, Devra Gooden, Jerome Auel, Renita (Brian) Moe, Rozanne (Robert) Johnson, Tyler (Jessica) Auel, and Derek Auel; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild..

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Denise Hillstrom and Joetta Auel; son-in-law, Donald Gooden, grandsons, John Hillstrom and Dominic Gooden; two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be Friday, December 27, 2024, at First Apostolic Lutheran Church, 5 Laurentian Drive, Virginia, Minn., at 11:30 a.m. with the visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.

Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia.
