Martina Michals

Martina Michals, 83, of Virginia, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at her home.

She was born in Sostro Slovenia on January 19, 1942, to Frank and Teresa (Osmek) Mihelich and came to the United States in 1956. She married Bernard Michals on September 5, 1964. She enjoyed cooking, baking, walking, gardening and spending time with family. She began most days working a crossword puzzle and listening to Slovenian radio stations on the internet. She was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons Mark, Virginia, Timothy (Karla), Virginia, Anthony (Raz), Brainerd, Paul, Virginia; grandchildren Spencer (Matthew), Lucas, Olivia, Alaina and great grandchild Asher; sisters Ana Mihelich, Maria (Stanley) Ferkul, Vida Lanari, Blazena (Milan) Rihtar and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard, her parents Frank and Teresa, her sisters Teresa Mienhart and Helena Percic and grandchild Chelsea.

Memorial mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia with Fr. Brandon Moravitz celebrating. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Inurnment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Virginia.

Arrangements are with Landmark Funeral Home of Virginia.
