Richard William Wilman
Richard William Wilman, 89, of Buhl, died Monday, August 7, 2023, at Essentia Health Virginia.
He was born August 7, 1934, in Angora, Minn., to William and Gertrude (Kiukas) Wilman. He was a graduate of Chisholm High School, class of 1953. Richard married Shirley A. Cardini on February 6, 1957, and together, moved to Buhl that same year. He served in the Minnesota National Guard for 10 years. Richard served as a police officer for the city of Buhl and had worked as a security guard for the Lee Center in Hibbing and Johnson Brothers. He also worked at the Minnesota Aqua Farm in Chisholm, Ulland Brothers, the Sherman Mining Company and Babbitt Reserve. Richard enjoyed his motorcycles, ATVs, fishing and living at the lake all summer long. A special thank you to all the Waterview Pines staff who took wonderful care of Richard while he was a resident there. An extended thank you to all the friends that were established while staying at the lake in Hayward, WI and now are like family to us.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, Son Todd (Terri), grandson, Chase Wilman, great-grandson, Bekkum Wilman, step grandson, Travis (Rachel) Pickle, sister, Arlene Kuharenko and grandpa's special neighbors, Aiden and Ava Luukkonen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Tim.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10 a.m. noon on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel, Chisholm.
