Ronald (Pinky) Duane Palo Jr.
Ronald 'Ron' Palo of Bloomington, Minn., affectionately known as Pinky or Papa Ron, passed away peacefully at home September 19, 2025, at the age of 59 after a long battle with kidney disease.
Born July 26, 1966, in Eveleth, Minn., he grew up in Iron, Minn. He began working for local farms at the age of 11, earned an automotive degree from Eveleth Tech and moved to Bloomington, Minn., where he worked in service at auto dealerships, started a lawn and garden business with his best friend Coleen and later as a CDL truck driver.
Ron was the most caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Most will say they'll never meet another man so kind. He was known for his steadiness, humor, always being there for others, and especially his love for family and friends. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, listening to music, four wheeling/side by side trips and spending time with family and friends.
Ron is survived by a loving family, including his wife of 34 years, JoAnn Palo; son William (Erin) Palo; daughter Alexandra (Mark Blood) Palo; grandsons Waylon and Walker Palo; brother Jason Palo; sister Rhonda (Joe Turkula) Palo; brother-in-law Mike Mayry; sister-in-law Carol Mayry; stepmother Jean Clewette; stepbrother Russell (Paula) Mackey, stepsisters Brenda (Chris) Swenson and Julie (Dave) Cozad; nieces and nephews Kendra (Chris) Pasch, Scott (Miranda) Mayry, Joey Mayry, Wade Skoglund, Brandon (Christin) Skoglund, Jacob (Laura) Mackey, Mindy (Christian) Lawien, Ethan (Annie) Mackey, Ryan Mackey (Sandra Matteson), Hannah (Willard) Beggiani, Stephanie (Danny) Fowler and; many uncles, aunts, great nieces, nephews and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ronald, Sr and Rosalind Palo; brother, Leonard Palo; father-in-law Robert Mayry; mother-in-law Liberty Carlson, brother-in-law Jeff Mayry; stepbrother Roger Mackey.
Services to celebrate Ron's life will be held Monday, September 29, 2025 at Hosanna Church, 9600 163rd St W, Lakeville, MN 55044, with visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow; and Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Faith United Lutheran Church, 8964 Highway 37, Iron, MN 55751, with visitation at 12:30 p.m., service at 1 p.m. with luncheon to follow; burial at the Cherry Cemetery. His life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
