Simon Koski Holmes
Simon Koski Holmes was born to Chris and Joyce Holmes on December 22, 1994, in Hibbing, Minn. Simon and his twin brother Seth were welcomed by older brother Sam and raised closely with cousins and other family in Idington, Minn.
Simon had a love for sports. By elementary school he could (and would) cite performance stats of many MLB and NFL players. He was a catcher on the Wuori Little League baseball team, played flag football, and wrestled. In high school Simon was a state caliber cross-country and track runner and a begrudging cross-country skier.
Simon graduated from Virginia High School in 2013 and University of Minnesota Duluth in 2017, with a degree in business. Over the next seven years, Simon worked in software development while living in the Twin Cities. His most recent employer, Credit Control, valued and supported him personally as well as professionally.
Simon (though very afraid of dogs during childhood) later become a dog lover. He doted on his Corgi and loved cuddling his dachshund mix shared with long-time girlfriend Natalie Jensen. He was a deep thinker and a voracious reader, and he enjoyed trivia.
Simon passed away at age 30 on January 12, 2025, in White Bear Lake, Minn., after an extended battle with alcohol addiction.
In addition to his parents, Joyce and Chris, and brothers, Sam (Ruth) and Seth (Nicole), Simon is survived by his girlfriend Natalie Jensen and many family and friends who loved and supported him. He will be missed beyond measure.
All are invited to a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, January 26, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Mountain Iron Community Center (8586 Enterprise Dr. S.). A short program will take place at noon followed by a light lunch. Please spread the word, and bring favorite memories of Simon to share with family and friends.
In the spirit of Simon's legacy, memorials may be directed to your local animal shelter or other organization providing kindness to others.
