Sue Devyak Obituary
Sue (Suzie Rahja) Devyak 'Grauntie'
My beloved wife was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis in May of 2018. The disease took a sudden and serious turn in the late summer of 2023. Despite her incredible strength and the tireless efforts of her care team, the many complications ultimately became too much, and she passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025. We like to believe that a lifetime of being a devoted Vikings fan may have also taken its toll-she never did anything halfway.
She was born in Chisholm, Minn., on November 9,1959, to Walter (Baldy) and Edna Rahja four minutes after her twin sister Patty. All three have preceded her in death, as did her half-brother Richard "Dupa" Rahja. The Rahja girls are together again.
She graduated from Chisholm High School and attended the Minnesota School of Business where she had many adventures in the big city with her Chisholm friends. She returned to Chisholm to be with her mother and began a career in the banking business. She retired after 30 years as a well-respected Mortgage Loan Officer. Making a better life for her twin sister Patty, Patty's son Tony, and his family was one of her most rewarding past times along with reading, country music, traveling, gardening, social events, and buzzing around on her Cub Cadet riding mower. She loved her life in her country home.
Suzie and I were casual friends for a few years before deciding to have our first "official" date on August 11, 1989. We stayed together the rest of her life, making it legal on June 17, 1995, on a 104-degree day. I was proud and honored to have been her husband for the last 30 years. We were fortunate to have lived a life together of countless celebrations with each other, our closest family members, and one heckuva bunch of friends.
With that, there is currently no service or celebration of life planned at this time. We will share condolences and memories as life goes on.
Suzie is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim, and her cherished "Golden Boy #1," Patty's son Tony Antonutti. She also leaves behind Natalia, Tony's devoted wife, who was always there when needed. Suzie adored the children she fondly called her "Chickens," including "Golden Boy #2," Gavyn Antonutti (son of Erynne Johnson), and her beloved teenage shopping and salon companions, Nina and Chloe Antonutti. Her "Best Playmate Ever," Gianna Antonutti, held a special place in her heart. Her nephew, Patrick Rahja, was her faithful companion during countless Vikings games. Suzie is also survived by her older brothers, Bobby (Kelli) Rahja and Johnny (Jody) Rahja, along with her nieces and nephew.
