Ted Renfors
Ted Renfors passed away on December 7, 2024, at Saint Luke's Hospital in Duluth, at the age of 84.
Ted was born in Hibbing, Minn., on May 8, 1940, to Rose (Spadaccini) and Theodore A. Renfors. He graduated from RL Downing High School in Keewatin, Minn., and went on to earn his Associate of Arts degree from Hibbing Junior College and his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
On June 13, 1964, Ted married the love of his life, Mary Clare. Shortly after, Ted and Mary Clare moved to Finlayson, where Ted began his teaching career. They later moved to Sandstone, first to the Lundorff Apartments, where they made lifelong friends, and later to their home on Washington Street, where they raised their two children, Shari and Todd.
In his free time, Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. He was a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, Minnesota Grouse Hunters Association, Minnesota Darkhouse & Angling Association, and Ducks Unlimited. While he loved hunting and fishing on his own, he always looked forward to spending quality time outdoors with his children and grandchildren or dear friends.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Shari Jo (Richard) Courtney of Willmar, Minn.; his son, Todd (Shari Lynn) Renfors of Lakeville, Minn.; his grandchildren, Patrick Courtney, Nicholas Courtney, Zachary Courtney, Danielle (Andrew) Tuthill, and Nathan Renfors; and his extended family, Charles (Gina) Hendricks and children, and Susan Hendricks and children.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Clare (Petroske) Renfors; his parents, Theodore and Rose (Spadaccini) Renfors; and his sister, Virginia (Ginny) Hendricks.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone with Fr. Joseph Sirba officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place at Spring Park Cemetery following the service.
