Buddy Osborne Obituary
On January 12, 2008, our loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend passed away at home after a valiant fight with cancer.
Buddy packed a lot of life into his 63 years. He was born on November 30, 1944 to Bill and Aileen Osborne in Evansville, Ind. He grew up in Evansville and served in the Army from 1966-1970 where he was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He called Chicago, Kentucky, California and Arkansas home before settling in Emmett, Idaho in 1999.
Through his work at the Black Canyon Bureau of Reclamation, he was able to enjoy the outdoors and care for Idaho's beautiful state parks. He found a sense of home and his loving wife, Arlene, in Emmett and vowed never to move. He enjoyed their trips together to visit family in the U.S., Italy and Spain.
Fishing, hunting, gardening and horse races were some of Buddy's favorite interests. He belonged to the National Rifle Association, would wake up early to get the best fishing spots and spend countless hours studying horse racing forms. He was an easy-going man who loved a good steak and homegrown tomatoes. The LDS church of Emmett served as Buddy's extended family. He was very dedicated to his faith, temple work and genealogy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene; his children, Kim Gamberini, Buddy Osborne II, Becky (Thor) Swensson and Clinton Valle; his stepchildren, Debbie (Bob) Fewkes, Donald (Rosa) Rekow, Diane (Ken) Smith, Dan (Suzanne) Rekow and Darin (Melissa) Rekow; his father, Bill Osborne; his siblings, Joanne (Doug) Wallace, Sheryl Travis, John Osborne, Don Osborne, Rob Osborne and Jeff Osborne. He has three sisters-in-law, Toni (Al) Thornton and Jeannie Hoffman, Gladys (William) Ingram; and two brothers-in-law, Buck Limbaugh and John Koskey. He has eight grandchildren, 20 step grandchildren, one great grandchild, eight step great grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Aileen Osborne; his stepmother, Nora Osborne; his son, Stephen Osborne; and three brothers, Randy, Jerry and Billy Osborne.
We extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the many gracious caregivers, friends, doctors and nurses who offered their love and services to Buddy throughout his illness. He touched the lives of many with his kind heart and warm smile. We will miss him so much and he lives forever in our cherished memories.
