Elizabeth Obermeyer Obituary

Elizabeth A. Obermeyer
September 29, 1923 - March 8, 2015
Elizabeth "Betty" Obermeyer passed away peacefully in Salem, Oregon at the age of 91. She was born to parents Henry and Florence Martin Norwood in Emmett, ID. Betty attended school in Emmett and then went to nurses training in Boise graduating in 1945 as a registered nurse. She joined the US Army as an RN and after the war she married Jack Obermeyer of Emmett on December 8, 1946. They had three children: Daniel, Charles, and Lynda. Betty continued working as an RN until she and Jack both retired. Then they decided to RV full time for ten years spending half of each year in New Mexico. In 1994 they landed permanently in the Westport / Hoquiam area in WA, where they lived until Jack died in 2006. Betty is survived by her sister, Phyllis Norwood of Emmett ID, daughter Lynda Woodworth (husband Ray) of Salem OR, son Charles Obermeyer of Arlington WA, and son Daniel Obermeyer (wife Dana) of Northern CA. Betty is also survived by four grandchildren: Marissa, Nikki, and Nathan Woodworth of Salem OR, and Lisa Currier of Billings, MT, plus one great grandchild, Stanley Currier of Billings MT. Betty was preceded in death by her brothers George, William, and Robert Norwood. Mom was a loving mother and wonderful woman, who spent her life caring for her family and serving others as a compassionate nurse. She lived a full and happy life, and we will all miss her very much.
