Steven Ness Obituary

Steven Arlen Ness
Steven Arlen Ness
1951 ~ 2018
Steven Arlen Ness was born in Moses Lake, WA to Edith Patrick Ness and John Selmar Ness on January 11, 1951. Steve was a survivor of Juvenile Diabetes since age five. He passed away on April 6, 2018 while fishing in St. George, UT, from complications of diabetes.
Steve moved to Othello, WA at age 1, then to Emmett, ID in 1960. He attended school and graduated from Emmett High School in 1969. He attended Boise State University and graduated from Salt Lake Community College, Salt Lake City, UT in 2002.
Steve was an outdoor enthusiast and his favorite sport was fishing. He worked in the logging industry, construction, sales and wood working. He discovered lamp making in 2004. He made table and floor lamps, several tables, clocks, and unique art pieces from wood he obtained from the deserts of Utah and other Western States. He had a successful lamp business, Finess Wood Creations, and sold his artwork at retail businesses and Arts Festivals around the West. He had an eye for art and could look at a piece of twisted wood and see what a beautiful creation it could become. Steve loved dogs and they were a major part of his life. Steve had a great sense of humor and many friends. He loved the mountains, camping, travel, and took cruises to Alaska, Caribbean, and Hawaii. He married the love of his life, Martha, by a river with the mountains looking over their special union in Grand Teton National Park, WY. Steve felt blessed to share nineteen years with Martha.
Steve is survived by his wife, Martha Campbell-Ness, Layton, UT; mother, Edith Patrick Ness, Emmett, ID; father, John Selmar Ness (Pauline), Nampa, ID; sister, Kerri Ness Sutton (Howard), Midvale, ID; brother, Tony Ness, Emmett, ID; nephews, Dusty and Darin Sutton (Andrea) of Midvale, ID; step siblings: Teresa Andrew, Del Krause, Lisa Surles of Boise; several nieces and a nephew; and Golden Retriever children, Lola and Lily Ness.
A celebration of life will be held on May 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Willow Grove Events, 4131 West Central Road, Emmett, Idaho. Come and share your stories of Steve's life.

I am very saddened by the news of Steve's passing. I will always remember his kindness and that special glowing smile which was contagious with anyone he encountered.

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear

You have my heartfelt sympathies. Steve will be forever in our hearts.
