Dennis Shaul Obituary

Dennis Carl Shaul Passed away with his loving wife by his side on Sep.16 in Bountiful Utah at the age of 74 after courageously battling a long illness. Dennis was born Dec 3rd, 1949, to Elmer and Jessie Shaul in Winnemucca Nevada.

Dennis is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Tracy (Mike Sanders), son Jeff (Penny), son Phil, son Ryan (Stacey) of Idaho Falls, daughter Kim (Jay) Ellingford of Priest River Idaho, brother Dan Shaul of Blossvale NY. along with 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by both parents Elmer and Jessie Shaul, his beloved grandson Cody Jack and younger brother Dale Shaul.

Dennis spent his early years in Oregon surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins with whom he had special lifelong relationships with.

He and his family returned to Nevada where he attended school with his brothers Dan and Dale. He spent time in the desert finding swimming holes and old cars to fix up and drive until they became undriveable. He had many adventures growing up both in the desert with his friends and in the forest of Oregon with his cousins.

Dennis attended Albert Lowry High School in Winnemucca where he excelled in both academics and sports. He won awards for VICCA in mechanics, graduated as Salutatorian and lettered in baseball as the catcher. He would continue his lifelong love of baseball with his children.

He went on to attend Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton OR. where he studied Diesel mechanics. He also married his loving wife of 55 years in Pendleton on September 20th, 1969. In February of 1970 Dennis was drafted and spent a year with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam of which his family is all very proud of. Dennis spent the following year training with the army at JBLM finishing as tank commander. He was then honorably discharged with two bronze stars. Dennis and Mary then moved to Idaho Falls where they raised their family.

Dennis went on to be a foreman and Journeyman Electrician and worked for several Electrical companies in Idaho Falls. He worked on many commercial buildings in the area including EIRMC, the Grand Teton Mall, Idaho Falls library, local airports and many more. He also worked for the City of Idaho Falls. Dennis took great pride in his profession.

Dennis loved spending time with his wife and family including traveling, especially when kids and grandkids would join them. Their favorite place to vacation was the Oregon coast where they spent many memorable summer vacations.

He enjoyed anything to do with cars, whether it was working on his or his kids' cars or simply going to car shows. He always dreamed of fixing up his 1956 Chevy to be just like the one had when he and Mary started their wonderful journey.

Celebration of life will be held Friday September 27th, 1:00pm at Buck Murphy funeral home in Idaho Falls.
