Verna Taylor Obituary

Verna Rae Horton Taylor

Verna Rae Horton Taylor, 79, passed away on March 16, 2025, in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Verna was born on May 13, 1945, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Medie and Harry Horton. She grew up in Challis, ID with her siblings, Jay Horton (deceased), Donna Hughes (deceased), Lois Kerr (deceased), and Nora Olaso. From a young age, she was fiercely independent and passionate, a quality that would define much of her life.

She married David Taylor, Sr. (deceased). and spent 22 years of their long marriage as a Navy wife, raising their eight children while moving frequently and experiencing life in many places. Their children-Stacy Baldwin (deceased), Aaron Taylor, Kelly Duncan, Jason Taylor, Amy Taylor, Karen Taylor-Fawcett, David Taylor Jr., and Stephanie Taylor-were her greatest priority, and she devoted herself to their upbringing.

Once her children were grown, Verna entered the workforce and later pursued higher education, enrolling in college the same year as her youngest daughter. Determined and persistent, she worked hard and eventually earned her bachelor's degree in Health Information Technologies, an achievement she was incredibly proud of. She went on to build a career in health information and even worked as an EMT for a time, always embracing new challenges.

Her faith was central to her life, and she remained a devout and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, always putting her family first including her 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

A family reception will be held at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot, Idaho, on March 20 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service in Challis, Idaho, at 2:30 p.m. the same day - open to all.

Verna will be remembered for her strength, determination, and unwavering commitment to her family and faith.
