Ardel "Jack" Hastings Jr., age 75, of Metropolis, passed away Saturday morning, April 20, 2024, at his home with his family where he wanted to spend the last of his life.
He left at 6 a.m. for his fishing trip leaving behind his wife, Margaret; daughters, Crystal and Heather; grandsons, Matthew, Dennis, Bradyn, and Tyler; great grandson Sawyer.
Jack grew up in Belknap and on Jan. 19, 1968, he married Margaret McCarver and was blessed with two daughters who blessed him again with four grandsons and one great-grandson.
Jack worked at Mermet Grain Company, Jim's True Value and Harris Casino until his health prevented it. Jack loved to fish until his death no longer allowed it. He loved spending time with his grandson, especially Bradyn who helped his papaw with everything. He loved watching his hummingbirds, playing on his tablet and reading. Jack enjoyed planting flowers and gardening as his health allowed.
Jack is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Crystal and Heather; brothers, Kenny (Janet) Hastings and Ronnie (Robyn) Hastings; two uncles, Francis and Martin Davault and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Sr. and Alice Davault Hastings; sister, Kay Helms.
Memorial services honoring the life of Mr. Ardel "Jack" Hastings will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. David Wright will be officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.
