David Meng, 79, of Metropolis, passed away on Tuesday morning April 1, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Funeral services was held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Buchanan and Dr. Jeremy Muniz officiated.
David was retired from Electric Energy Inc. and was a member of Metropolis First Baptist Church. He served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam war. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and tinkering in his garage, and was a cowboy at heart.
David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jill Meng; daughters, Jennifer Muniz and husband Jeremy and Lori Oliver and husband Matt; grandchildren, Averi Muniz, Zachary Muniz and fiancé Maggie Moore, Elijah Oliver, and Cooper Oliver; brother-in-law, David Tanner and wife Susan; and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Noraine "Betty" (Jones) Meng.
