Joey Dwaine Rushing, 69 of Metropolis, passed away at 10:26 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.
Funeral services were held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Rev. Russell Gilbert officiated. Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Joey had worked as a butcher and was a carpenter who worked in construction. He attended Victory Full Gospel and enjoyed camping, horseback riding, and grilling. Joey was an excellent steel guitar player and played for many years with his family. He enjoyed flat track racing and won several wheelie competitions.
Joey is survived by his wife, Tina (Myrick) Rushing; brothers, Jack Rushing and wife Sue, Jerry Rushing and wife Sherry; sister, Tammy Rushing; daughter, Connie Jo (Rushing) Wiley; grandsons, Dalton Wiley, Dylan Wiley and wife Cassidy, and Dexton Wiley; great grandchildren, Avalee Wiley, Gannyn Wiley, Cayson Wiley, Colesyn Wiley and Emersyn Wiley; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Betty (Gilbert) Rushing; brothers, Ronnie and Roger Turner; and one great grandson, Joe Luke Wiley.
Memorial contributions may be given in Joe's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Pallbearers were Jason Rushing, Aaron Melcher, Noah Melcher, Brian Melcher, Dylan Wiley, Dalton Wiley, Stanley Gilbert, and Randy Myrick.
Honorary pallbearers were Dexton Wiley and Gannyn Wiley.
