Alexa Hu Obituary

Alexa (Goins) Hu, age 37, of Framingham ended her battle with breast cancer on Monday November 30, 2015 at her home in Framingham surrounded by her loving family. Born in Decatur, AL, she was the daughter of Thomas Lee and Andrea (Hipp) Goins of Walpole, NH. She was influenced in her childhood most notably by her time spent in Fremont, CA, as well as Milan, Italy. After meeting her husband Dr. Daniel J. Hu in 2007, they married in 2010 in Santa Rosa, CA, in a beautifully rustic ceremony. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Wildwood, MO class of 1996. She then went on to the University of Missouri, Columbia where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Art History in 2000, and the University of Missouri, Kansas City for her Master of Arts in Art History in 2002. After moving to Boston in 2008 and working in event planning and at the Museum of Fine Arts, she decided to change careers, and follow in the footsteps of her mother to become an educator. After earning her Master of Education from Lesley University in 2011, she went on to teach 9th and 10th grade history for 1 year at Pembroke High School in 2011-2012. She has spent the last 4 years raising their 2 daughters. She was an active member in the Moms Club of Framingham having served on the executive board. In her free time, she was a voracious reader, enjoyed cooking for family and friends, antiquing, and loved to travel. Her kind, open heart, love for life, and positive light will be sorely missed by all. Besides her husband, Alexa is survived by her loving daughters, Ilaria L. Hu and Vivienne L. Hu both of Framingham, her sister Hadyn Goins of Portland, ME; her Uncle William L. Goins and his wife Joanne S. of Florence, AL and her Aunt Vickie Goins of Roswell, GA. She is also survived by her cousins, Davis Goins of Florence, AL and Jason Goins and Jennifer Brooke Goins both of Olive Branch, MS. She was the grand-daughter of the late Macon A. and Miriam (Coile) Hipp and L.B. and Eseyo Goins and niece of the late Bobby R. Goins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, December 12 at 11 AM at Plymouth Church, 87 Edgell Rd., Framingham Centre. Arrangements are under the care of the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, (corner of Union Ave) Framingham. At the familys request there will be no funeral home visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Dana Farber / Jimmy Fund, www.myjimmyfundpage.org/give/alexaswarriors For online guest book, please log onto www.nortonfuneral home.com.

Dr. Hu, so sorry to hear of your loss. The last time we spoke it was in Oct 2014 and we talked about your family. I just heard about your wife's passing today at my annual appointment. Again, my sympathy to you and your lovely family.
