Edward Bastien Obituary

Edward Bastien, 79, a resident of Natick, formerly of Framingham, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Metro West Medical Center, Natick. He was the husband of 49 years to Harriet A. (Evers) Bastien of Natick. Born and raised in Framingham, he was the son of the late Homer Noah and Elizabeth (Molander) Bastien. During the Korean War, Mr. Bastien served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Framingham High School. Mr. Bastien worked for the MDC in the water department for many years. He then served for 23 years as a Framingham police officer until his retirement in 1982. He was a life member of the VFW in Ashland, the AmVets and the American Legion, both in Natick. He loved going to the beach especially Old Orchard Beach in Maine, and Siesta Key Beach in Florida. Besides his wife, Harriet, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Bastien of Natick, and Kevin Bastien and his wife, Lori, of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by his siblings, Frederick Bastien of Framingham, and Marie Moran of Chatham; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Homer Bastien Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m., at the Norton Funeral Home (www.nortonfuneralhome.com), 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Avenue), Framingham. Burial will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery, 53 Grove St., Framingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 393 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01105.
