Eleanor Carbone Obituary

MARLBOROUGH Eleanor M. Carbone, 86, formerly of Marlborough, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation, Bennington, Vt. Born in Marlborough and a resident for more than 80 years, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Piacentina (Erano) Carbone. A graduate of Marlborough High School, Eleanor worked and supported the family farm for more than 35 years. She then began working at the front desk at Longfellows Wayside Inn, Sudbury, where she was employed for more than 30 years. Eleanor was a lovable person, who had a kind and a positive word for everyone. She had a keen mind, a strong work ethic, and could converse with anyone, at any level. She was a joy to be with and will be fondly remembered. She is survived by her sisters-in-law; Ann Carbone of Elizabethtown, Pa., Jean Carbone of Holden;; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Carl Carbone, Florina DeLuco, Laura Carbone, Eugene E. Carbone, Frank Carbone, and Jeannette Carbone. A memorial service, celebrating her life, and burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlborough, will be held in the summer of 2009. Respecting Eleanors love for animals, the family requests that donations be made to the Audubon Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Slattery Funeral Home Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
