Ellen Evers Obituary

Ellen (Heavey) Evers, 78, of Medway, died after a long illness at her home on Sunday, January 30, 2011 surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Henry J. Evers who died in 2003. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas and Annie (Newman) Heavey. Mrs. Evers was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Milford and the Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years at Framingham Union Hospital. Mrs. Evers was also employed by Caritas Norwood Hospital as the Lead Cancer Registrar and held positions at the Bethany Health Care Center, Framingham and Medway Country Manor. Mrs. Evers was a lifelong animal advocate. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her children, John and his wife, Lynne, of Medway; Thomas and his wife, Helen, of Bellingham; Joan del Genio and her husband, David, of Acworth, NH; Gregory and his wife, Jessica, of Medway; Andrew and his wife, Jennifer, of Medway and Lawrence of Hopedale. She also leaves her eleven grandchildren, her brother, Robert Heavey, of Medway and her sister, Catherine Daly, of Framingham and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Thomas B. Heavey, RoseAnna Powers, Margaret M. Cox and Mary L Melia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Josephs Church, 151 Village St. in Medway. Interment will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, Medway. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 89 South St., Suite 406, Boston, MA 02111 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701or the Milford Humane Society, 289 West St., Milford, MA 01757.

So sorry for the loss of a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Friend, and overall individual! She had a hard battle and I hope and pray she is comfortable and happy looking down on us now. The cats in the neighborhood have lost a wonderful caretaker and advocate!! Hugs to the family.
