Eunice Maloney Obituary

For over 90 years Eunice Mary (Labuski) Maloney made the world a more kind and special place for all who knew her. She died on September 29, 2016 after a brief illness, just shy of her 92nd birthday on October 5. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, and community member whose wonderful sense of humor, heart of gold and sage guidance will be greatly missed by all. She was born in Worcester, MA to Frank B. and Helen T. (Early) Labuski, graduated from St. Peters High School and then completed her RN training at St. Vincents Hospital School of Nursing. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul J. Maloney, a Holy Cross graduate and Navy veteran when he returned from WWII. Together they raised a family of five, living in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before settling in Framingham for almost fifty years. In addition to being an active parent of five children, she was skilled at many hobbies, including knitting for her children and grandchildren and gardening at her home and in the community. Eunice volunteered at St. Bridgets School and Parish, helping with fund raisers and decorating the church for holidays, and was a member of the Simpson Park Garden Club, Friends of the Disabled, Good Samaritans, and the Harwich Garden Club. Her wit was legendary as she could find the humor in any situation, telling and retelling funny stories about her children, grandchildren, friends and co-workers. She worked as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at the former Framingham Union Hospital for thirty years, where she lovingly helped bring hundreds and hundreds of babies into the world. She would calm nervous expectant parents with humor telling them that she was not going to retire until at least one set of parents named their new baby Eunice. That never happened but she and Paul did eventually retire, summering in Harwich Port, where they enjoyed many Patricia Lane Fourth of July celebrations and wintering in Bonita Springs, Florida. They moved to the Willows in Westborough in the fall of 2012. Eunice was an avid Red Sox fan and an astute follower of state and national politics, but her family was always the center of her life. Her husband, Paul J. Maloney,Sr., died in January of 2013, but she is survived by five children: Paul, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Wellesley, Peter and his wife Nikki of Southborough, Tom of Boston and daughter-in-law Jill of Framingham, Kathleen of New York City, and Bob and his wife Beth of Newton. She leaves behind ten grand children who adored her: Patrick Maloney, Kaity Cimo and her husband Kevin, Chrissy Sills and her husband Harrison, Holly McConnell and her husband Brian, Brian Maloney, Maddie Maloney, Billy Maloney, Tommy Maloney, Nate Maloney and Chayada Maloney and two great grandsons: Sheamus Cimo and Charlie Sills. She also leaves behind a step granddaughter, Kwan, and two step great grandchildren, Fawn and Petey, both of Thailand. She is survived by one sister, Claire Gorman and her husband Francis Gorman. Her brother Frank B. Labuski Jr. and sister Ruth Joyce and her husband John Joyce all predeceased her. She is survived by a sister-in-law Mary Labuski, and brothers-in-law Don Maloney and Jim Maloney and his wife Mary Elizabeth. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families as well as good friends and admirers from her nursing days, her neighborhoods, and the Willows. Visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham, on Sunday, Oct. 2nd from 1-5pm. Funeral Mass in St. Bridgets Church, 830 Worcester Rd. (Rte 9 E.) on Monday morning, Oct. 3rd, at 9 oclock. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private. Eunice and I spent 22 years of laughter and love as we shared our nursing careers in the labor and delivery suite at Framingham Union. We remained friends even after she retired; visiting her and Paul in Harwichport and sharing a cup of coffee in her kitchen in Framingham. I have never forgotten how friendly and gracious she was and I am grieved that she is no longer in our presence. My deepest condolences to her children and their spouses. I remember her stories of her children as they grew into adulthood. I will always keep her memory in my heart.

Her ability of to look at life with her deep faith, and sense of humor shared with all, meant no one she met was a stranger!! Jill I am so very sorry that les and I are in California, but our hearts will be with you in spirit

Dearest Peter and Nikki,
we are very sorry at the loss of your dear mom. A mom is irreplaceable no matter how old we get.
We feel the loss with you and your dear family.
We extend our condolences and heartfelt sympathy praying that the Almighty hold her in the highest and accord her eternal happiness for all the good deeds, the joy and happiness she imparted onto others.
Peter, your mom is remembered so fondly in spite of the fact that we just saw her few times, yet her high spirit and wit is so cherished from the dinner of your engagement.
May God have mercy and may she rest in Peace.

We were so sorry to hear about your mom/grandmother's death. Eunice was such a wonderful neighbor during the 11 years that we lived on Lockland, and a very active parent at Marian H.S. She was so kind and had a delightful sense of humor. We were so happy to reconnect with her and all of the Maloney family when Holly and Brian were married. Eunice will be greatly missed, but we feel so lucky to have known her.

Our sympathy to all of the Maloney family,
Josie and John Kealty

Kathy and Tom, I am so sorry to learn of your Mom's passing! She was such a bright light at both St. Bridget's and Marian, always there with a smile and kind word. It feels as if she was just a big part of our childhood. Fond memories of both your parents at the Spring Fling also. May the memories keep her alive in your heart forever. God's peace. Blessings, Jo-Ann Bafaro
