Geraldine May Obituary

Mrs. Geraldine A. Geri (Alger) May, 77, of Uxbridge MA, died Wednesday evening, October 5, 2016, at UMASS-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. George May, who died in 2015. Mrs. May was born in Framingham MA, the daughter of the late Robert F. and the late Clara (Feeley) Alger. She was a graduate of Hopedale High School, Class of 1957 and a graduate of Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. She had been employed for many years as a registered nurse at Framingham Union Hospital and later at Franklin Healthcare Center in Franklin MA. Mrs. May had been a resident of Uxbridge MA since 1982. She had been a member of the Deborah Wheelock Chapter in Uxbridge of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a longtime member of the Milford Rotary Club Rotary-Anns and had been a member of the Hopedale Historical Committee. Mrs. May is survived by 2 sons: Jeffrey R. Fafard and Peter H. Fafard of Framingham MA; 4 step-children: Kathleen A. Nugent, wife of Todd Nugent of Marlboro MA, Retired Col. George F. May III (USAF) of Mobile AL, Bonnie May Halstead of Milford MA and Jeffrey P. May and his wife Deborah of Uxbridge MA; her 12 grandchildren: Lexi, Ryan, Christopher, Kenny, Jaclyn, Thomas, Michael, Emily, Grace, Paul, Anna, Brianna; 2 great-grandchildren: 1 sister: Patricia A., wife of Patrick Niro of Milford MA; also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. May was the sister of the late Robert T. Alger of Mendon MA who died in 2012. Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 13, at 9 a.m. from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Uxbridge MA. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, October 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For condolence book, please visit www.edwardsmemorialfuneralhome.com. Thoughts and prayers to all of this family. I worked for Dr. May for several years and always enjoyed working with him. I met Mrs. May at functions we had for the office and she was the kindest, sweetest, most elegant woman. I have fond memories of both Dr. and Mrs. May. Together again.
