Herbert Wheeler Obituary

Herbert T. Wheeler CLINTON Herbert T. Wheeler, 78, of Clinton, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at his home. Born and raised in Bolton, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Lois (Kent) Wheeler. He retired from the U.S. Army after 27 years with the rank of sergeant major. He entered the military at age 17 where he served overseas in Korea, Vietnam and Japan, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He also worked for the U.S Postal Service for 12 years in the towns of Salem, N.H., Stow, and Bolton, where he worked at the counter until he retired. He is survived by his four children, Sessa Kereensa of Oregon, Rose McGuffin and her husband, Ryan, of Crescent City, Calif., Dianna Doyle and her husband, David, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Michael Wheeler and his wife, Susan, of Pella, Iowa. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren; his three former wives, Catherine (Canciamilla) Carmel of Cross Bay, Ore., Sharon Krause of Aurora, Colo., and Judith (Thompson) Wheeler of Bolton; and his brother, Clyde Wheeler and his wife, Barbara, of Bolton. He was predeceased by his brothers, George and Phillip Wheeler, and his sister, Carolyn Minnicucci. Calling hours are Saturday, Feb. 28, 2 to 3:30 p.m., with a service at 3 p.m., at Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson (www. tighehamilton.com). Burial will take place at a later date.
