Joy Gorey Obituary

HUDSON Joy H. (Clinch) Gorey, 81, of Hudson, died Friday, June 20, 2008, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Herbert I. Gorey of Hudson. Mrs. Gorey was born and raised in England, daughter of the late George H. and Harriet R. (Frost) Clinch. During World War II she was a student nurse and met her husband, Herbert, in England. They were married shortly thereafter in August of 1945. She moved to the states with her husband after the war and began to raise her family in Northborough, Lancaster and finally, residing in Hudson from 1965 until her passing. Besides caring for her family, she was an accomplished homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and baking for her family and friends. Besides her husband, she is survived by her three sons, Robert of Andover, Christopher of Nova Scotia and David of Rutland. She is also survived by her brother, David; sisters, June, Joey, Jean and Jackie; grandchildren Scott, Jonathan, Philip, Michael, and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Alden and Skyler, along with many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. (www.tighehamilton.com), 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend a calling hour Saturday, June 28 from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
