Melinda M. Carneiro

1957 - 2018

Melinda M. Carneiro, age 61, of Mashpee, MA and formerly of Milford, MA passed away peacefully on October 7, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma. Melinda was born in Milford in 1957 and was the beloved daughter of the late John and Mary (Roda) Carneiro. Melinda graduated from Milford High (75) and from Westfield State University with a B.A. in Music Education (79). She was a well-known pianist and organist in the Milford area. She spent five years teaching music, with her favorite position being that of Uxbridge High School Band and Chorus Director in the early 80s. Melinda left teaching in 1984, and started as a programmer at State Mutual in Worcester, MA. She stayed with the company for 25 years as it went through two changes, becoming Allmerica Financial and finally Hanover Insurance. At her retirement, Melinda was a Director in the Information Technology Department. After retiring to the Cape, Melinda became a volunteer for the AARP Tax-Aide Program and enjoyed serving the folks in Mashpee for a number of years as a Tax-Aide counselor. Melinda leaves behind her two best friends (sisters from a different mother) | Suzanne Roy of Mashpee, and Sue Syme of Florida. She also leaves behind her retired Service Dog, Shaemus, whom she adored. Melinda treasured the many friends she made in all the different aspects of her life. Besides having friends from her school days, she stayed in touch with many of her former students and many of her work colleagues from over the years, counting them all as family. At Melindas request, there will be no services held, but she has requested that an act of kindness be passed on as a way of remembering her.
