Michael Hebden Obituary

Michael J. Hebden, 49, of Key West, FL, formerly of Ashland, MA, passed away on February 25, 2011. Born in Framingham, MA on March 5, 1961, he was the loving son of Robert and Kathleen Hebden of Ashland and Joan Hebden and Jack Healey of Indian Harbor Beach, FL and the husband of Arwen Romes. Michael was the best brother to Coni Hebden of Weston, MA and Lisa Caruso of Marlboro, MA. He is also survived by his step-sisters, Cara Tirrell of Ashland and Caitlin Tirrell of Holliston, MA, his niece, Hannah Caruso, his nephews, Christopher Alberini and Timothy Carney, a great-niece, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. The greatest treasures in his life were his three year old twin sons, Beau Sox and Robert Ashland. Mike graduated from Ashland High School in 1979 and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Boys State Representative. He played football and baseball (senior captain) for all four years of high school. After attending Babson College, Michael worked in the bio-medical field until he moved to Florida in 1996. He loved the warm weather and enjoyed managing the water sports' activities for a beachside resort. Most recently, he was employed by Coca- Cola. Michael was a long time coach for the youth floor hockey league in Key West and loved being a weekly guest on a local radio all-sports program under the moniker of "Boston Mike." His gregarious personality and infectious laughter will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Calling hours are Friday, March 4, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held in Key West Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beau and Robert Hebden Memorial Support Trust in care of the Middlesex Savings Bank, 2 West Union St., Ashland, MA 01721. www.mataresefuneral.com

Bob and Kathy,
I have never seen such an outpouring since LEGACY came on line. You can be proud - I certainly would be. Mike touched so many lives and I was lucky enough that he crossed my path too. Mike would want you to hang in there and "lighten up" because he's okay now.

Dear Joan, Bob and family,
We were so shocked and sad to hear about Mike. Life isn't supposed to happen this way and I remember him so well when he was little; the sleep-in-a-tent experiences, tree houses, cooky decorating parties at Xmas, birthday parties and the time they drilled the holes in the canned goods in the playroom while I assumed they were just playing "store". Great memories hopefully will help ease the pain. We all lost touch after we moved but would love to hear from you now that we're both in FL. Mike was such a cute little boy with that smattering of freckles and innocent eyes that would melt your heart, especially for cookies. There are no words to tell you how sorry we are.

Happy Birthday, Mike...
Sadly, this would have been your 50th, but alas you will be ever imortalized as "40-something" as the rest of us grow elderly. Eventually, we will all meet up once again in a greater, fairer place.

Until then RIP Mike...

I will cherish so many fond memories of you, my beautiful cousin. From riding on the back of your Honda 75 through woods next to Hilldale Place, to playing homerun derby in the front yard. There are so many more but the one I will cherish the most was this time last year...the last time I saw you, and the quality time we got to share. An amazing man with zest and love of life. A man who upon meeting someone for the first time would hug and kiss them as if knowing them for a lifetime. Your sense of humor and family impersonations will be fondly remembered, laughed at and shared always. A kind, loving, genuine soul gone too soon. Your laughter will echo in my ears forever. I love you and will forever miss you.

Bob, Joan, Conni, Lisa, and Arwen and family: I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Michael as I remember him from our days at AHS was always laughing, grinning, or about to say or do something that'd make those around him chuckle. The two of us were a grade or two apart but we always got along real well when we ran into each other.

I wish all of the family Peace.

Kindest condolances, Dallas Overturf

My deepest condolences to the Hebden family - Mike and I were great childhood friends - starting in elementary school - and although I haven't seen him since the mid-'80's I think of him every March 5th and wish him a silent Happy Birthday! Our mothers were in the hospital at the same time, but Mike arrived first and I arrived 3 days later. I'll think of Mike and his family this March 5th and offer a prayer for their comfort.

Coni, "Sorry" seems such an empty word in the face of everything that you, Rod, and your family are going through. Three short years ago, we sat on the Magic Hatt as you knit baby gifts for your twin nephews. You spoke so warmly of your brother and his happiness as a new Dad. We are so sorry for your loss. With our prayers, Tricia and boys

To the Hebden family & friends,
I grew up on Hilldale RD and went to school with Michael since kindergarten (1966) at Little Folk Farm through graduation at AHS 1979. Needless to say, I have many fond memories that will only depart when it's my turn.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mikes' untimely passing. I hadn't seen him since the 1980's and often wondered where, and how he was doing. What a shock to hear this sad & tragic news!

I can only hope that he is at peace and in a better place than here, and that one day, we will all be able to make sense of this situation.

May his family find the strength to make it through these difficult times, and be assured that we are all thinking about you and your loss at this difficult moment in time...

Very sad & truly sorry for your loss, :*(
