Nancy Lane Obituary

Nancy H. (Pacious) Lane, 72, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her husband and children. She was the wife of Thomas P. Lane, to whom she was married for 50 years. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. and Margaret (Moore) Pacious and had lived in Marlborough for the past 39 years. She was a graduate of the Boston College School of Nursing, Class of 1959, and also earned her master's degree in education from Fitchburg State College in 1983. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish where she served as a eucharistic minister for many years and was also a longtime member of the Red Hat Society. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Thomas P. Lane Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Milton, Timothy P. Lane and his wife, Saundra, of Trumbull, Conn.; four daughters, Tara M. Lane of Pawtucket, R.I, Catherine M. Shanahan and her husband, TJ, of Marlborough, Deidre A. Doherty and her husband, Jamey, of Franklin, Julie E. Lane of Quincy; one brother, Dr. Edward Pacious of Mashpee; three sisters, Dorothy Dolan of Somerville, Alice Pacious of Medford, Margie Wagner of Burlington; 12 grandchildren, Tom III, Annie, Conor, Victoria, Helen, Katie, Christina, Liam, Meghan, Ciara, Sabrina, Amy; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by three brothers, Francis, Donald and Walter Pacious. Nancy enjoyed painting, traveling, puzzles, reading, Wells Beach, Maine, and spending time with her family and friends. She also tirelessly provided support and compassion to others in need. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, April 6, at 10 a.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral), 95 West Main St., Marlborough, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St. Visiting hours are Monday, April 5, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Boston College Connell School of Nursing, Office of University Advancement, More Hall 220, 140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.

Mrs. Lane- I remember all her fluernutta sandwiches on our picnics with her girls DeeDee and Cathy, her eggplant is where I leanred to love the meal. She will be missed.
