Athel Dusenbury Obituary

MESA, AZ - Athel "Chub" Dusenbury, formerly of Troy, Oh, passed away peacefully at his home in Mesa, Az on May 21, 2024. He was born March 6, 1942, to Harold and Lyda (Williams) Dusenbury in Licking County, Ohio.

Athel was a longtime member of the Mid-County Church of Christ in Troy before moving to Arizona in 2016. He worked as a carpenter for about 60 years and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. His helpful spirit and sense humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Athel is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Imogene "Nancy" (Dixon) Dusenbury, his daughters Kristina (Dewaine) Dodds and Karin Dusenbury, and siblings Frances K Ohde and Gilbert Dusenbury. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Athel was preceded in death by his siblings: Ralph Dusenbury, Ronald Dusenbury, Frank Sesser, Robert Dusenbury, Wayne Dusenbury, Richard Dusenbury, Judy Dalzell, Louis Dusenbury, Ella Mae Decker, Donald Dusenbury, and Larry Dusenbury.

A memorial service will be held at Mid-County Church of Christ in Troy, Ohio on June 21, 2025, at 11:00am. His ashes will be buried at Rocky Fork Cemetery the following week, in a private ceremony for family. The family would like to thank Hospice of the West, the East Valley Church of Christ in Apache Junction, Az and the Mid-County Church of Christ for all their care and compassion over the past year.
