PIQUA - David L. Hepner, 77, of Piqua passed away at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born August 3, 1944 in Greenville to the late Andrew L. and Mabel (Brandon) Hepner. He married Cheryl S. Mills June 19, 1965 in Arcanum and she survives.
Other survivors include three children, Randy (Shari) Hepner of Orlando, Florida, Mindy (John) Trick of Greenville, and James "Jamey" (Jamey) Hepner of Piqua; nine grandchildren, Hannah Hepner, Madelyn Hepner, Natalie Hepner, Justin (Haley) Trick, Tyler (Emily) Trick, Ryan Trick, Jacob Hepner, Joseph Hepner, and Jacey Hepner; and one great grandchild on the way!
Mr. Hepner was a graduate of Arcanum High School Class of 1962 and received his bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University in 1967. He worked for 17 years as the Physical Director of the Miami County YMCA and was the owner of Hepner's Windows and Doors. David was a longtime, faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and going to Florida for the winter. David played fast pitch softball for many years and was a founding member of the Piqua Fastballers. He was always a passionate follower of his grandkid's activities and was considered the "Ultimate Grandpa". He loved to spend time with his family and friends, and he will surely be missed.
A service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Fox officiating. The family will hold a private service at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 9411 N. County Rd. 25A, Piqua, OH 45356. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.
