TROY -- Edith L. Bookwalter, 94, of Troy, passed away peacefully at 7:32 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2022 at Brookdale of Troy. She was born April 3, 1928 in Shelby County to the late Perry and Margaret (Chaney) Moyer. She married Vernon E. "Bookie" Bookwalter June 1, 1947 in Covington; and he preceded her in death July 1, 2017.
Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Steve) Wiegman of Troy; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother; and two sisters.
Mrs. Bookwalter was a 1946 graduate of Houston High School. She worked for over twenty-three years as the Librarian at Forest Elementary and Cookson Elementary for the Troy City School District before her retirement. She was a long time and extremely active member of the Piqua Church of the Brethren. She loved music and was active for many years in the church choir. Additionally, she enjoyed reading, playing the piano and spending time with her family.
A service to honor her life will begin at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Lutz officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Church of the Brethren 525 Boal Ave. Piqua, OH 45356 or Hospice of Miami County, Inc. 3230 N. County Rd. 25A Troy, OH 45373.
