PIQUA - Edith Ann Lance, age 84, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025, at her residence in Piqua. She was born in Meade, KS on January 19, 1941, to the late Clifford L. Powell and Virginia May Sutherland.
Along with her parents, Edith was predeceased by her siblings, Jerry Powell, Charles Powell and Mary Ellen Powel.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Donald; her sons Keith (Jodie) Lance of Piqua, OH, Samuel (Melissa) Lance of Davenport, IA, daughters Doneda (Chuck) Bird of Piqua, OH, Crystal (Jim) Massengill of Chillicothe, IL, Dorie (Jeff) Borop of Chillicothe, OH and Rachel Gasson of Millersburg, KY; a brother, James (Kate) Powell of Tecumseh, KS, and a sister, Nancy (Mark) Anton of Plains, KS, as well as 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; as well as numerous "adopted" children.
Edith was a teacher and worked as a missionary in Russia from 1992-2001. Edith was a devoted Christian and opened her heart to those in need. She was a wonderful cook- you never left hungry when you stopped by! Edith was a gifted piano and baritone horn player, she loved music. Edith also loved nature, especially flowers and birds.
Funeral services will be held 1:00PM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home with Rev. Jon Bishop officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00PM-1:00PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy, OH. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, OH.
