PIQUA – Edith M. Williams, age 80 of Piqua, went to be with the Lord Saturday April 8, 2017, at 1:42 a.m. at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born Nov. 20, 1936, in Piqua, OH, to the late John and Laura (Shannon) Wirt. She married John B. Williams on Jan. 14, 1956, in Piqua, OH, and he survives.
Edith is survived by 11 children: Jim and Malinda Williams, Piqua, OH, Debbie and Bill Swallow, Piqua, OH, Bobby Williams, Piqua, OH, Steve and Donna Williams, Piqua, OH, Johnny and Barb Williams, Piqua, OH, Brenda Williams, Piqua, OH, Brent Williams, Piqua, OH, Mary Williams, Piqua, OH, Mike and Jenny Williams, Bradford, OH, Paula and Craig Huebner, Indiana, and Tami and Rick Claprood, Piqua, OH; three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Wirt, Piqua, OH, Doris Wirt, Huber Heights, OH, Dorothy Galligan, Piqua, OH; 37 grandchildren: Jenni and Kenny, Jimmy and Toni, Kevin and Amy, Sara and Luke, Dymond Ladre and Emily, Matt and Beth, Meg and Brandon, Laura, Nathan, Staci, Kari and David, Kyle and Dawn, Josh, Logan, Zach, Katie, Lauren, Kelsi, Jennifer, Shannon, Brad, Brian, Janelle, Brittany, Danny, Brook, Brittaney, and Braydon ; 25 great-grandchildren: Colin, Kearsten, Keira, Caylee, Aiden, Austin, Lexi, Kyonna, Keivon'ta, Eli, Norie, Charlie, Madison, Sofia, Caleb, Braden, Bella, Brianna, Tori, Brian, Cameron, Addy, Lexi, and Colin; special nieces and nephews: Connie, Brian, John, Jason, and Paiton; several nieces and nephews; and a very special caregiver: Michelle.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.
Edith was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Piqua. She worked at the Piqua Daily Call as a mail room supervisor for 11 years. Edith was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes Fan, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and enjoyed following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Piqua, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Bolte Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
