Eibhlin Ewald Obituary

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Eibhlin Elspeth Matilda Ewald, age 15, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at Cincinnati Children's Medical Center, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Eibhlin was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on June 22, 2015. She completed a round of treatment at the Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. Eibhlin transferred to the Cincinnati Children's Medical Center for additional rounds of chemotherapy treatment followed by a bone marrow transplant on November 20th, 2016. The excellent loving care she received at both hospitals is deeply appreciated.

Eibhlin was a freshman at Park Tudor School in Indianapolis and a 2015 graduate of The Orchard School. She loved playing soccer and softball, participating in theater and singing, music of all genres, designing clothes, and experimenting with fashion, make-up and the latest nail polish colors. She also enjoyed traveling, spoke fluent mandarin, and loved animals; her interests and activities were as varied and eclectic as her shining personality. Eibhlin and those around her embraced her unicorn spirit - rare, beautiful and unique.

She was sensitive, witty, creative and was a free spirit. Eibhlin shared her individuality and challenged those around her to look at the world through a different lens. She adored her family and, as the youngest, she was loved, picked on and protected by four big brothers who believe she hung the moon.

Eibhlin was born January 12, 2001 in Bloomington IN to Thaddeus B. and Erin {Taylor} Ewald.

She is survived by her parents Thad and Erin Ewald of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Bethel Township, OH. Also surviving are her four big brothers; Sebastian Q. (Kathleen) Ewald, North Carolina, Thane L. Ewald, Minneapolis, MN, Tevish R. Ewald and Lachlan B. Ewald both of Indianapolis, IN, grandparents; Larry D. and Sonia {Studebaker} Ewald, David Taylor and Patricia Taylor all of Bethel Township, OH; plus several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins from around the world.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren, 4817 S. State Route 202, Tipp City, OH 45371. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at West Charleston Church of the Brethren and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Pastors Irv Heishman and Mark Stenberg will officiate; burial will follow in the Studebaker Family Cemetery, Bethel Township.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371.

Celebration of Life service to be held Sunday, January 31st from 2-4pm at The Orchard School in Indianapolis.

Erin, Thadeous Bartolomew, Family--It is with a troubled soul that I send this heart felt condolence. No words will adequately describe or help but rest assured that your family is now and will be always in my prayers.
The beautiful words describing your daughter paint a wonderful story of a young ANGEL summoned home at an early age. My own daughter, Erin, experienced the Children's Hospital Cincinnati for her BM Transplant. May there be a degree of comfort for the two of you and your family in knowing that I care. Your former Teacher, Mark Striebich

I met Eibhlin a few times at her home with Katie. She was always so sweet, funny, and full of life. The Ewald family is one who is loving, triendly, and kind. My heart goes out to anyone who knew and loved Eibhlin. Love and peace ❤

I had the honor of knowing and loving the Ewalds - many moons ago when they lived in Tokyo, Japan. A beautiful family - but this was before the light of Eibhlin entered their lives. I only wish I could have met her. I wish you peace, and send you love. Sebastian, who I knew the best, I am so very sorry for your loss. My love to all.
