TROY - Herbert J. Fogt, age 91, of Troy, OH passed away on March 24, 2023, at his residence in Troy. He was born on March 29, 1931, in Shelby County, OH to the late Herbert O. and Mary B. (Zorn) Fogt.
Herb is survived by his son: Keith Michael (Ruth) Fogt of Richmond, TX; daughter: Kimberly (Fogt) Caruso of Buffalo, NY; son-in-law: Kerry O'Banion of Troy, OH; seven grandchildren: Peter (Amber) Fogt, Daniel Fogt, Andrea (Gunnar) Sorem, Kevin (Kaylin) O'Banion, Colin O'Banion, Philip Caruso and Kelly (Eric) Braun, four great grandchildren: Calder Fogt, Charles Braun, Maxwell Braun and Julian Theodore Fogt; brother: Eugene F. (Mona) Fogt of Houston, TX; sister: Ruby L. (Richard) Cecil of Brownsburg, IN; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years: Ada Joann (McClain) Fogt; daughter: Deborah (Fogt) O'Banion, granddaughter: Esther Michelle Fogt; brothers: Norman W. Fogt, Carl F. Fogt and Virgil C. Fogt; and sisters: Wilda K. Fogt, Miriam Holtkamp and Doris A. Mays.
He graduated from Sidney High School in 1949 and received an Associate Degree in accounting from Miami-Jacobs in Dayton in 1951. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955. He was employed in materials management with Hobart Corporation from 1960-1987 and retired from Whirlpool Corporation in Greenville in 1993.
Herb was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy. He formerly served as a Little League Baseball coach and Boy Scout Leader.
Private interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, OH.
