Juanita Jean Petry

TROY - Juanita Jean (Bashore) Petry, age 97, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Springmeade Health Center.

She was born June 3, 1926, to J. Harry & Ethel (Bowyer) Bashore in Greenville, Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 64 years, Raymond D. Petry in 2014; brothers-in-law Everett and Kenneth Petry. She will be missed and remembered by her loving daughter and son-in-law Annette & David Stein of Sidney.

Juanita was 1944 Newton High School graduate then went on to Manchester College where she graduated in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in teaching. She became a teacher for Tipp City Schools where she taught 2nd and 3rd grade for the majority of her career before retiring. Juanita also was a volunteer at Stouder Memorial Hospital then at Upper Valley Medical Center. She was a past member of the Polk Grove United Church of Christ and the Lioness Club in Vandalia. Juanita loved going square dancing in her earlier years and loved watching and feeding the birds along with a love for all other animals.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1209 S. Miami St, West Milton. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 22 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton.
