TROY -- Lewis "Pappy" Furlong of Troy, OH passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 16th, 2022 at the age of 96. Born July 26, 1925 in Portsmouth, OH to the late Lewis and Millie Furlong. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 50 years who was by his side to the end, Arlene {Smith} Furlong, children; Dennis Lee (Pam) Furlong, Nashville, TN, Vickie (Steve) Fine, Tipp City, OH, Cherie (Mike) Hawk, Tipp City, Holly Earles, New Carlisle, OH and Keith (Melanie) Earles, Ft. Worth, TX as well as 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and sisters, Betty Moore and Edna Tygret.
Lewis served in the 70th infantry division of WWII and was a proud Veteran. He worked at AO Smith in material control for over 30 years retiring in 1985. He attended school in Tipp City and loved to support their teams. His favorite sport was softball; he played and coached for many years in Tipp City. Gardening and growing tomatoes was one of his favorite hobbies and at 96 he would still get out there in his scooter and tend to his garden. Cooking and making sure his family had plenty of food was one of the many ways he showed his love. He was still cooking up to the last two weeks of his life and was the best baker in the world! He loved his Bengals, Buckeyes, and Reds.
Visitation, Friday, January 21, 2022 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, OH 45371. Funeral service will follow at Noon at the funeral home; Pastor Jim Millerton officiating. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.
