URBANA — Marshall W. Dillon, 72 of Urbana, passed away, Sunday, November 2, 2014 in his home town of Urbana.
He was born April 1, 1942 in Urbana, Ohio.
He was a 1960 graduate of Urbana Local High School.
He served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed with Perpetual Savings and Loan, Home Savings as managing officer in Wapakoneta, and retired as an insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance in West Milton, Ohio. Marshall was a member of the Good Shephard Lutheran Church and Messiah Lutheran Church and past member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, the Jaycees and Rotary Club. He enjoyed fishing, wood working and especially time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen (Pflaumer)Dillon, his son, Mark Dennis (Heather) Dillon of West Chester, Ohio, his daughters, Melissa Sue (Mike) Bohacek of Michiana Shores, Indiana and Mary Michelle (Tom) Phillips of Lakeland, Florida, eight loved grandchildren, Chase, Marshall, William, Lisa, Stephanie, Lucy, Peter and Nicholas; his brother, Orvill (Norma) Dillon of Springfield, Ohio, sister and brother-in-laws, Ruth (Dan) Rooney of Urbana and Phillip (Karen) Pflaumer, of Hamilton, Ohio, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy (Corn) and Dennis Dillon.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 in the Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Anderson officiating. Serving as pallbearers; Phillip Pflaumer, Dan Rooney, Tom Phillips, Mike Bohacek, Tim Rooney and Keith Rooney.
Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Urbana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers' Association 3797 Summit Glen Dr., G100, Dayton, Ohio 45449 and the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1013 E. Lawn St. Urbana, Ohio 43078. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com
