COVINGTON - Mary Joan (Pearson) Fosnight, age 89 of Covington, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Ohio Hospice of Miami County.
With sadness we celebrate the reuniting of Joan with Bob in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Joan was born in Piqua, Miami County Ohio on March 15, 1934, to the (late) John Harold Pearson & Margret Amanda (Ketzel) Pearson.
Mary was a graduate of Brown Local High School, Class of 1952 and married Charles Robert "Bob" Fosnight January 9, 1953, at the Lena Baptist Church, Lena Ohio.
She traveled with her husband, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran with 20 years of service, to Waco TX, Piqua OH, Yokota Japan, E. St. Louis IL, Sun Valley CA, and Falls Church VA. She raised 5 boys and 1 girl, one born in each of these locations.
Joan obtained her Beautician License in 1973. After moving back to Ohio, she served as a Covington volunteer emergency squad member; Covington Middle School secretary for many years; and worked at Coach Light dress shop in her spare time. She was a member of the Covington Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a 4-H Leader Sewing Club and participated in many community youth groups.
Joan and Bob enjoyed watching old T.V. shows like Andy Griffin, Lawrence Welk, Carol Burnett, and the Price Is Right, where they had been game show contestants. They were world travelers, visiting places such as Germany, Spain, Albania, Thailand, China, France, Israel and Greece.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Bob Fosnight; son, Dale Fosnight; daughter, Dianna Yingst; and sisters, Jean Woolery and Louise Snead.
Joan is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas & Carolyn Sue Fosnight of Piqua, OH, Rev. Daniel & Sally Fosnight of El Mirage, AZ, David & Marilyn Fosnight of Troy, OH, Don & Susan Fosnight of Liberty Township, OH; 16 grandchildren, (Dale) Eileen Fosnight & Adrián Ardao Rodriguez, Darren Fosnight, Franca Sicobo, Malika Perry, (Doug) Nikki Christensen, Joshua Fosnight, Jodi & Jan Windom, (Dan) Becky Reece, Mary & Erik Bensen, (Dave) Chad & Jeanette Fosnight, Heather & Nate Mealy, (Don) Tyler & Corinne Fosnight, Alyssa Fosnight, (Dianna) Stephanie Yingst, Carly Yingst, Charles Yingst III; 20 great-grandchildren, (Doug) Brittany, Johnny, Kyndall, Carsyn, Weston, Walter, Landon, Mieso, and Minjae, (Dan) Les, Jacob, Lucas, Logan, and Levi, (Dave) Hanna, Emma, and Charlie, (Don) Paul, Charlotte, and Augustine; 3 great-great-grandchildren, (Doug) Henry, Bella and Natalie; brother Dick Pearson; sisters, Nancy Bierly, Janet Willse; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9th at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington with Pastor Greg Kurtz officiating. Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington. Visitation 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County.
