TROY - Phyllis Joan "JoAnn" Cecil, age 92 of Wadsworth, OH and formerly of Troy, passed away March 18, 2026, at The Woodlands of Liberty Assisted Living in Wadsworth. She was born May 12, 1933, in Greenville, OH to the late Job Mitchell, Sr. and Ethel (Alexander) Mitchell.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Shelby Cecil, brothers George, Paul, Robert, and Job Mitchell, Jr. and sister Betty Brandt.
Those left to cherish JoAnn's memory include her daughters Shelly Cagle (Ron) of Cape Coral, Fl and Jane Shepherd (Jeff) of Medina, OH. She also leaves 5 beloved grandchildren and 11 adored great-grandchildren. JoAnn is also survived by her siblings Barbara Young (David) of Troy, OH and Richard Mitchell (Linda) of Kodiak, TN.
JoAnn was a 1951 graduate of Troy High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and with her friends at The Woodlands of Liberty. She also loved to go shopping and cooking for her family and friends.
A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.fishercheneyfuneralhome.com
