PIQUA — Richard A. Daniel, 88, of Piqua, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Sidney to the late Samuel and Isabelle (Fisher) Daniel. He married M. Maxine Elsner on Feb. 26, 1949, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2014.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne (Victoria) Daniel, of Piqua, Rodney (Linda) Daniel, of Pataskala, and Steve (Anita) Daniel, of Covington; three daughters, Charlotte (Rich) Libby, of Youngsville, North Carolina, Audrey Johnson, of St. Paris, and Karen (Tim) Popp, of Piqua; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Smith, a son-in-law, Bill Johnson, and two brothers.
Mr. Daniel was a 1948 graduate of Holy Angels High School and attended a technical school for two years. He was the owner of Daniel's Pastry shop in downtown Piqua for many years until his retirement in 1995. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Piqua Lions Club. He enjoyed camping, boating, traveling and woodworking. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Piqua, with the Rev. Thomas L. Bolte as the celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, where a prayer service will be conducted at 4 p.m.
