PIQUA - Robert Daniel "Bubba" Hicks, 78, of Piqua passed away on Friday August 22,2025 at his residence. He was born in Troy, Ohio on June 11, 1947, to the late James C. and Grace Davis (Riddle) Hicks. He married his sweetheart Stacey Ross on December 11,2019 in Vero Beach, Florida, and she survives.
Bubba will forever be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him, in addition to his wife he is survived by four sons: Robert A. "Bug" Hicks (Linda Gartner), West Milton, OH; Brian D. "Mack" Hicks (Kristy Sanders), Piqua, OH; James E. "Spermie" (Laura) Hicks, Piqua, OH; and Rex "Skinny" Onkst, Greenville, OH; one stepson: Jess-E (Dana) Ross, Covington , OH; eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and his special friend "Sis" Robin York. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Jed Hicks, Ed Hicks, Doodle Hicks, Piggy Hicks, Zeke Hicks and one sister: Rosa Hubler.
Bubba graduated from Western Local High School, Latham, OH. He attended Edison State Community College in Piqua and was a member of The Covington AMVETS Post #66. He started working at Hartzell Propeller on July 20, 1967, where he worked as a machinist, programmer, night shift foreman and in shipping and receiving before retiring in December 2008.
Bubba spent his life enjoying the great outdoors with fishing and hunting. He liked to watch westerns, especially Gunsmoke and found time to relax just setting on his porch enjoying nature and having a cold beer while watching the deer.
A Celebration of Bubba's Life will be held at 4:00pm on September 6,2025, at The Covington AMVETS Post #66 located at 10010 St Rt. 185 in Covington, Ohio 45318. Following the Celebration of Life, per Bubba's request, we ask you to join us in a "Big Party".
