My father in law, my friend, passed away just a few short days ago. His name was Robert E. Talbot, one of the kindest and devoted men I have known. His love for his family was unmatched. The death of someone close to us leave us shocked with grief. We cannot understand how one minute this person was here and the next they are gone. The truth is that those we love are never truly gone. The body may have run its course, but the soul lives forever. I’ve spent the past few days remembering all the things we lost when we lost Bob, and it would take that long to recount them here, so I want to speak of just one: his love for family. To Bob, his family was his life. He treated everyone with the respect and dignity he felt they deserved. Bob, was a husband , father, grandfather, great grandfather, father in law, friend and confidant to many. But to him, whether you were his own blood or an extended member of the family he always approached you in the same loving fashion. When you spoke to Bob, you knew he was not only listening, but cared about what you were saying. You knew when he spoke to you, even when the words were strong, that he not only cared about you but wanted the very best for you. That was Bob. I had the pleasure of knowing Bob for over 18 years. I am still amazed at the love and generosity he gave to everyone. He made us all better-off for having known him and having him in our lives. I am grieving over his loss, but I am also celebrating his amazing life, and the impact he had on those he touched. I will truly miss you Dad.

All my love and admiration,
Albert

Bob was a very special person and a wonderful friend to both ronnie and me.Bob and I had our own friendship as do Elaine or as ronnie called her [Ethel]and Ronnie did.
When the four of us were together which was always,Bob and I were on the same page as was Ronnie and Elaine. This made our friendship we all had very unique,a friendship that will be very much missed by the three of us,but never forgotten.Friends are with us forever because they live in our hearts.Elaine,Ronnie and I will continue to be the best of friends and always take care of each other, and yes
Bob your ears will continue to ring like they did when Elaine and I got into mischief, which seemed to be all the time. Watch over us always, your best friends Ronnie and Jacque

Dear Dad,
It has been my honor to have met you 17 years ago. You are a wonderful man and I feel truly blessed in knowing you. When my father died those many years ago, you made it so easy to love you as my own. Thank you for your love, your wisdom and your memories. I will always treasure your stories and the talks we shared. In the book of Galatians, the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. You are truly an example of these attributes to your friends and your family. Thank you for being a mentor to Michael. Showing by example how a caring and loving husband and father should be. It is a bitter sweet goodbye. My mind knows that I will see you in the kingdom of heaven again but my heart aches from the sadness of not having you here. I know when we look up to the heavenly stars you will be looking down on us keeping that watchful fatherly eye on all of us. God bless you Dad. I love you.

Grandpa, many words discribe you, a loving husband and a loving father but nothing is like the love between a grandpa and granddaughter. I will miss you so, but now I know that you are living in peace and harmony with the Lord. Even though I can't see you, you can see me and I can't wait until I see you again. I wrote a short song for you. Fa la la la la la la la, Fa la la la la, Fa la la la la, It's getting hard without you here, I look at your picture an hold it near, sometime has passed since you've been gone, I miss you more as days go on. I hope you like your song. You will be missed. Love, Brooke

Bob was special--a loving husband, a patient father, a loyal friend and he will be missed as he takes his full reward to sit with the angels where he watches over you. We thank him and remember him as Bob's best man, Teresa's godfather, and always a cousin--but more than that too. We think of you Elaine in our prayers, that life will comfort you because he would want you to continue living and enjoying life, knowing he is still at your side, step by step, each and every day.
God Bless you,
Elaine and Bob (P)and family.

Not many people had a father like you. I was one of the lucky few. I always knew I could count on you no matter what mistakes I made. As I started to get older I wasn't the easiest kid to raise, your patience through my rebellious years still leave me so amazed.
I love you dad with all my heart and hate that we shall be apart. Our love was a bond that can't be broken, you may be gone but NEVER forgotten.
I miss your smile in the things we enjoyed and hear your laughter in your grandaughters little boy.
Your shiny blue eyes were like the stars up above and I still feel all your love.
It saddens me that your gone from me, but you left behind such wonderful memories.

Dad

On 1-11 we lost a Husband Father Friend
when God decided you were needed in
heaven.

He took you away so you could rest,
able to breath no pain in your chest,
we all want you to know you were the
best.

As we remember, with picture and story,
our minds can rest
knowing you're in his glory.

Your parents would be proud,
how you raised us to see
the best Woman and Men,
that we could be.

Life lessons that you taught,
will be used every day.

As we continue our journey through life
as you see,
one day we'll reunite,
as a whole family.

-Love

Are you here my grandpa dear
can you see we all are here
to see you off to peace.

Please don't mind our tears
we just can't face our fears
my mind says this is the end
my heart doesn't want to say
goodbye-but my soul knows
this is only the beginning.

Go spend your days in fields
of green and I will see you
soon again my grandpa dear.

I love you so
I hope you hear my words to show
I'll never forget you grandpa dear.

Elaine Talbot

January 16, 2011

My life with Bob began in 1961. I was working with Bob’s mother, Jeanette Talbot, at the providence hospital. During lunch one day, Jeanette was showing a picture of her son Bob in his navy uniform. I happen to look over at the picture and realized I knew him. I asked to see the picture and recognized him as someone I knew from grammar school.
When Bob came home on leave from the Navy, Jeanette introduced us and we went on our very first date which led to us falling in love with each other. I knew then that Bob was the man that I wanted to spend my whole life with. On May 26th, 1962, Bob and I were married. Our marriage spanned forty eight wonderful years full of precious memories. We raised four beautiful children, Steven, David, Michael and Lisa. We have five grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Nicholas, Brooke and William and one great grandchild, Aiden. I am so thankful for meeting Bob’s mother in the coffee shop that day. I would not change my life for anything in the world. I loved Bob then, I love Bob now and I will always love him with all my heart. He was my life, my best friend and I am so lost without him. We wanted to do so many more things together in this life. I’m glad Bob that you went peacefully without any pain and that you are in a good place with God. I love you so much Bob and I miss you very much. Watch over me always until I see you again.

Love always,
Your Lanie

Dad,You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.

.........Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grown apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.

Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The man I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.

I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful son
steven...I love you..

My father's life was an extraordinary one. A special life filled with purpose and meaning. My father served honorably in the United States Navy before starting a career in the aerospace industry working for Hamilton Standard (space systems department) as an inspector. In 1967, he was fortunate to participate in the Apollo Space Program. His role was significant in that he participated in the inspection of the major structural frame for the Lunar Module environmental control system. In addition, he also played a part in the process assembly inspections of the space suits, backpacks and life support systems developed for the NASA astronauts. He was also part of the Hamilton Standard team that participated in and played a key role in tracking and recording the CO2 levels in the Apollo 13 spacecraft after the infamous explosion crippled the mission to the moon and jeopardized the lives of the Apollo 13 astronauts. The remainder of his career in the aerospace industry was as an inspector for Pratt & Whitney. I am proud of my father's life in all respects. As a family man and friend, he was second to none. Robert E. Talbot, a loving husband to my mother, Elaine, a loving father to me and my wife Paula, my brothers' Steven and David, and my sister Lisa, a loving grandfather to my daughter Brooke and my sister's children, Christopher, Stephanie and Nicolas and my brother Steven's children William and Kaylene, a great grandfather to my niece's child, Aiden. We, your family and friends will miss you dearly in the coming days, months and years but we will hold on to the hope that one day we will all be reunited and be together forever with the Lord.
"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?""
John 11:25-26 NIV
I love you always Dad...until we meet again.
Your Beloved Son,
Michael
