CINCINNATI — William A. Simms, age 66, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Troy, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 26, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Frank and Ruth (Carroll) Simms.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Eva "Eve" (Wagonrod) Simms; three sons: William (Michele Turner) Simms of Milford and Robert (Jean) and Shawn (Cheri) Simms, both of Loveland; one brother: Frank (Jayne) Simms, and one sister: Carolyn (Mike) Myers, both of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren: William (Diana), Amanda (Chase) Jones, Chazmon, Nicole, Jonathan, Kaylie, Erica and Jordan; three step-grandchildren: Brianna and Vince Belperio and Ryan Baker; and one great grandson: Blake William.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers: Michael and David; and one sister: Carol Ann.
Bill was a US Air Force veteran. He was a member of the F.O.P, Ohio Troopers Coalition, the United Methodist Men and the Willshire Lions Club. He retired from the State Highway Patrol after 26 ½ years of service and later served in ministry as a United Methodist pastor.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Summerside United Methodist Church in Cincinnati with the Rev. Joseph Jung officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice of Cincinnati, 4380 Glendale Milford Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242 or Summerside United Methodist Church, 638 Old State Route 74, Cincinnati, OH 45244.

Bill was the first Trooper to greet me on my arrival at the Piqua post back in 1980. Never forgot the simple greeting and the cake. My sincere condolences to the family and friends.
