Alma Havens Obituary
APPLEGATE- Alma Vera (Parker) Havens, age 87, a former longtime resident of Applegate passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Meadow Lane in Bad Axe.
She was born on July 16, 1938, in Croswell, a daughter of the late Fred and Vera Alma (Carney) Parker. Alma married Donald B. Havens on April 18, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Applegate. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2013. After marrying, they settled in Flint, Michigan, where she taught home economics, sharing her love of canning and crafts with adult learners. Alma enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in real estate, working for over twenty years in the Huron and Sanilac County areas. She was a longtime member of both Applegate and Bad Axe Methodist Church.
Alma is survived by her four daughters, Sharlet (Bob) Lee, Sandra (Larry) Butcher, Stepanie (Jeffery) Krohn and Shelly (Brad) Truxall; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel, Leslie, Nathan, Brandon, Andrew and Matthew; and three great grandchildren; her sister, Sybil Winters and her three brothers, Herbert Parker, Jim Parker and Paul Parker.
Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Friday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday at the Applegate Methodist Church, with visiting at the church from 12 Noon- 1 P.M. on Saturday. Pastor Patty Olds of the Applegate Methodist Church and Rev. Tim Callow of the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery in Carsonville.
Memorials in memory of Alma may be made to the Bad Axe First United Methodist Radio Broadcast Fund.
