Catherine Palmer Obituary
Mrs. Catherine Palmer, 98, of Palms passed away on Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2007 at Autumnwood of Deckerville.
Catherine was born Feb. 12, 1909 in Tyre, to the late Anthony and Veronica (Pollum) Grimski.
She married Wilfred Morell on Feb. 17, 1925 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1953. She married George Miller in May 1955 and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1972. She married John Palmer on Aug. 18, 1973 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1988.
Catherine attended the West Minden School. She was a nurse's aide for 22 years in Cass City. Catherine cooked in many area restaurants. She was a former parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Argyle and St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Catherine was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart, the Lady of Lourdes and the St. Jude organization. Catherine enjoyed gardening, needle working, traveling and visiting with her family and friends.
Catherine is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Kursinsky and her husband, Clifford H., of Palms; six step-children, Carol Anderson of Sand Point, Shirley Wellman of Sand Point, Arnold Miller of Bay City, Carl Miller, Bill Palmer and his wife, Alma, of Florida and Ken Palmer and his wife, Ila, of Snover; four grandchildren, Randall Kursinsky of Midland, Debra Burgess and her husband, William, of Deckerville, Richard Kursinsky and his wife, Melanie, of Lake Orion and Daniel Kursinsky and his wife, Kelly, of Alaska; six great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Catherine was preceded in death by one step daughter, Ione Solice; four brothers, John, Anthony, Roman and Clarence Grimski; eight sisters, baby Agnes Grimski, Frances (Peter) Zurek, Martha (Matthew) Bezemek, Mary (Steve) Karolinski, Anna (Albert) Peruski, Lucy (Howard) Pore, Victoria (Evan) Skoner and Laura (Ed) Kulish.
The funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. The Rev. Robert Pare, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Ignatius Cemetery in Freiburg.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Smigielski Funeral Home on Cass Avenue in Minden City and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are requested to the St. Patrick Building Fund.
