James R. Krohn
James R. Krohn, age 75, of Bad Axe, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at his home, after a courageous and heartfelt battle with cancer.
James was born November 27, 1949 in Bad Axe, son of the late Wayne and Kathleen (Gettel) Krohn.
He graduated from Lakers High School in 1967. On July 7, 2023 he married the love of this life, Jean (Layer Ruppel) Krohn. Together they blended their families, Maureen (Gerry Cook) Mausolf, James (Erika) Krohn, Kevin Krohn and Angie Souva.
Jim was a well known farmer for years, sold Spartan crop Insurance and started the Ag Chemical business in the early 2000's, which kept him close to the agricultural community. His goal was to bring critical agricultural chemicals to local farmers at a fair price.
He was a natural athlete throughout his life who enjoyed playing basketball, football, baseball and golf. He was the record holder for most basketball points scored at Lakers High School for years . Later in life, he discovered and mastered the sport of golf, where he was extremely proud of his SEVEN holes in one!
When Jim was not farming or helping local farmers, he loved escaping the MI winters in his sanctuary in Ave Marie, Florida where he enjoyed daily dips in his pool and tee times! He also enjoyed driving his sling shot around the Thumb of Michigan and the Everglades in Florida.
James is also survived by his grandchildren, Trista Mausolf, Garret (Erica) Mausolf, Ashlyn (Richard) Capote, Tancy Bowers, Trinity Souva, Zachary Souva, Kendall Krohn, Wyatt Krohn, Katie Krohn, and Cash Krohn as well as eight great-grandchildren, Siblings: Terry (Cathy) Krohn, Kay (Floyd) Thompson and Doug (Chris) Krohn,
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy (Ruppel) Tetreau and grandson Josh Ruppel.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe or Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be offered to Hospice or Our Savior Luteran Church.
