Madeline Swanquist Obituary

Madeline Rose Swanquist, 97, of Caseville, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Madeline was born July 28, 1921 in Detroit to the late Jules and Madeline (DeKernick) Ronse. She married Warren Oscar Swanquist May 2, 1942 in Detroit. He preceded her in death March 27, 2015. In 1979 she moved from Dearborn to her home on Sand Point and spent many winters in New Port Richey, Florida. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, golfing and her most important thing in life was spending time with family and friends. She is survived by Carol Laskie of Canton and Diane (Allen) Spinek of Romeo; grandchildren Carrie (Eric), Kenneth (Shannon), Tracie (Leland), Emily (Steven), Daniel (Julie) and Katie; great-grandchildren Tabitha, Aaron, Christian, Raegen, Madison, Nicolas and Finnley. She was preceded in death by brothers Valar and George and son-in-law Ronald Laskie. A funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in Caseville Township Cemetery. She will lie in-state from noon Tuesday until the time of mass at church. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Courtney Manor Activity Fund or the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be shared at www.ChampagneFuneralChapel.com
